Krisen slår inte könsblint

Varselnivån i Sverige i oktober 2008 var som bekant den högsta sedan nittiotalets krisår och än så länge drabbas mest industrin. Men krisen sprider sig snabbt: från exportindustrin, till tjänstesektorn och slutligen till offentlig sektor. 2009 blir precis som arbetsmarknadsministern uttryckte saker "ett riktigt skitår".

Under Asien-krisen 1998 var huvuddelen av de 10 000 arbetare som varje dag förlorade jobbet i Sydkorea kvinnor. I USA beräknas idag mellan 7 och 10 miljoner arbetare som en konsekvens av krisen rasa ner i fattigdom. Främst kvinnor.

Många feministiska studier visar på hur ekonomiska kriser tenderar att flytta kostnaderna till kvinnor eftersom det är kvinnor som befinner sig i de sårbaraste positionerna på arbetsmarknaden. Detta samband gäller globalt. Och det gäller i Sverige.

The real neo-Nazis

The western world lives in fear of "neo-nazis"- mostly clueless, ineffectual baffoons who march around in support of the racist, whites-uber-alles principles of the Third Reich.

However, when looking for real world Nazi-like behavior, one need look no further than Israeli's ongoing "blockade" of Gaza and other areas occupied by Palastinian refugees.

The "ghetto-ization" of the Palestinians by Israel is the exact same tactic the Nazis used in their plan to destroy Jewish communities throughout Europe.

The Nazis forced Jews to live in walled-in, segregated communities (ghettos) and then choked off the normal flow of trade to those communities - depriving them of the normal supports of life.
